  • This image of the Blue Heron Bridge at sunrise captures a moment of tranquility and transition. Photography, as a medium, allows me, and us, to pause and reflect on the beauty and significance of fleeting instances. The bridge on this particular morning, devoid of traffic, symbolizes a passage, a quiet journey from darkness into light, much like our daily transition from sleep to wakefulness. Starting the day with mental whispers of love, peace, and goodwill is akin to setting the foundation of a bridge in our minds. It creates a path for our thoughts and actions to follow, guiding us through the day with intention and grace. Just as the sun's first light gently illuminates the world, these positive affirmations can illuminate our inner landscape, fostering a sense of calm and purpose. Photography serves as a reminder for me of the beauty that exists in stillness and contemplation. By capturing these moments, in the act and in the reflection I give myself time to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the subtle miracles around me. The in-between spaces of light and shadow, the colors of the sky, and the peaceful emptiness of the bridge all contribute to a sense of harmony and balance. In a philosophical sense, I am presenting this imagee as an analogy and an opportunity to bridge the gap between our aspirations and reality. It is a call to infuse our daily lives with mindfulness, love, and a commitment to spreading peace and goodwill to all. I need this reminder, and I am grateful to share the message as an aid in solidifying the foundation within my own mind. Consistent practice can transform not only our own days and lives but also the world around us, one mental whisper at a time.
  • Survival and beauty converge in a moment of primal truth. The hunt I captured in this photograph is the ospreyā€™s quest for survival, as well as a sacred act honoring the cycle of life. In playfully making further meaning of this image and of my own art, I think and question, what about my pursuits? Through a spiritual lens, I recognize that every goal I strive for is part of a larger, interconnected web of life. This perspective encourages me to approach my desires and ambitions with reverence, questioning, what steps can I take to ensure that my actions contribute positively to this greater whole, understanding that all of my actions are intertwined with the world around me?I can be more aware and present, to engage life attentively, with intensity and mindfulness. I can foster a keener understanding of the collective experience and allow every moment itā€™s full creative potential. There is no mundane. There is no boredom. Soaring against the vast sky, the osprey embodies transcendence. As I look at life like this, I find sparks of inspiration to rise above my own limitations, to reach, and to expand my horizons. The grasp on its prey is an important reminder for me to stay grounded and to trust. What do I hold on to? What do I bow to? What sustains me as I reach deeper into life? This balance between transcendence and grounding is a spiritual play, in which I am invested in exploring and learning the parts and finding harmony between my higher aspirations and my earthly responsibilities.The osprey is a teacher for me. In every moment I have the opportunity to connect deeply with the essence of my being and the universe. I want to understand this better. This is what I seek and why I playfully contemplate in this way. The osprey teaches me to see the divine in the natural world. I am learning. I have trust in this. I mark my progress in contemplation. Every creature and every moment is a reflection of a greater spiritual truth. (Continues in comments).
